Barometer's Disciplined Leadership Approach™ to investing in equities considers each of the key factors affecting portfolio performance: market, the sector weights, assessment to determine whether we have a green light or a red light for making new investments. They will only increase equity exposure if our proprietary risk models are positive (giving them a green light). They then consider where sectoral leadership is emerging and identify leading companies within those sectors. If there is no apparent leadership, they will not make any new additions to the portfolio: they will take on a neutral or defensive stance.

Finding Stability — Income Process

Barometer believes the objective of income investing is reduced portfolio volatility and generation of cash yields. Barometer’s income strategies can make use of trusts, preferred shares, t-bills, provincial and federal bonds, corporate and convertible bonds. Their goal is to minimize credit risk by purchasing income investments that exhibit high quality standards.
